Health & Training Philosophy

Movement & Exercise Philosophy Components

  • Everything is work-able and figure out-able.

Every body goes through different experiences and responds differently to environments and exercises. The philosophy is grounded in the fact that there is always something we can do with the body where it is at to make it improve in function.

  • Modifications

Every movement you can possibly think of is modifiable. Meaning, if you hear jumping jack and haven’t jumped in 10 years due to bone on bone arthritis, have no fear. There are roughly 5 different ways to do a jumping jack with all different variations that address impact and intensity. If that’s an exercise that will help you, we will find a safe way for you to do it.

  • Holistic Approach

We want to work and maintain your body the same way we may take care of a car. We do not just soley focus on the wheels of the car because if we do then another system is bound to fail. To ensure you obtain both quality and quantity we need to make sure all systems that help the body move are kept in stages of maintenance or improvement!

I don’t believe in:

  • Helping you just to make money

  • “Selling” something to you

  • Giving you false information so you keep coming back

  • Punishing the body

  • That you can’t get better or improve the mind / body

  • That you will have to use me your entire life to be okay

I do believe in:

  • Helping you be fit for life

  • Providing you with resources to be able to adapt with whatever situation life may throw at you

  • Realistic and practical take aways note mentally and physically

  • You will keep facing the same problems in life until you know how to properly manage and possibly eliminate them

  • Proper education and a responsibility to provide accurate information for the greater good

Katie’s approach takes into account the whole person, as well as your training age and what those training experiences looked like in the past. Whole person means that Katie listens to you talk about who you were and who you want to be, while taking into consideration the reality of where your health is.

After analyzing that information, she teaches you how to meet yourself where the body and mind are currently at. She guides you on how to adjust the way you behave, talk to, and treat yourself.

Katie practices a non-judgemental approach in her work . She educates and leads you around how to live a life that is more giving, peaceful, and focused on your own wants and needs.

Relationship Analysis

The mind is the starting place. If that is not healthy and stable, we can make the assumption that somewhere down the road the client will either get hurt or have a very inconsistent and unhealthy relationship with movement and health. If that persons approach mentally is not established in a healthy way, being fit for life and achieving long-term health are rarely going to be the outcome. If you struggle with your mindset, prior to giving you an exercise plan or training session, Katie can work with you to better the mindset you have towards health. There are educational classes offered that go into these discussions as well.

Start with why you would, not why you wouldn’t.
